Evgeny Morozov (born 1984) is a journalist, author, and academic originally from Belarus who now works in the United States. He is skeptical of claims that the internet by itself is an intrinsically democratizing force and has maintained, as he did in this TED Talk, that oppressive régimes have become skillful at using digital technology to manage dissent.
